El río Ubaté se encuentra ubicado en el departamento de Cundinamarca y se le considera el principal tributario de la laguna de Fúquene, que a su vez pertenece a la gran cuenca del Ubaté-Suarez. Esta cuenca se caracteriza por ser un área de gran actividad lechera y de pastoreo, con gran demanda del recurso hídrico para sustentar la economía local y para abastecimiento de municipios como el casco urbano de Ubaté y veredas colindantes a lo largo de todo el río. Así mismo es fuente receptora de las descargas de aguas residuales domésticas e industriales y de la afluencia de ríos como el Lenguazaque y Suta. The Ubaté river is located in the department of Cundinamarca and is considered the main tributary of the Fúquene lagoon, which in turn belongs to the great basin of the Ubaté-Suarez. This basin is characterized for being an area of great dairy and grazing activity, with great demand for water resources to sustain the local economy and for supplying municipalities such as the urban center of Ubaté and adjoining paths along the entire river. It is also the source of the discharges of domestic and industrial wastewater and the influx of rivers such as Lenguazaque and Suta.
