Fatigue Estimation for High-Intensity Exercises in Physical Rehabilitation

Abstract

Los ejercicios de alta intensidad se han convertido en una herramienta fundamental para los procesos de rehabilitación física, siendo el ejercicio de sentarse y levantarse de una silla (STS), uno de los más importantes. Sin embargo, debido a los riegos que se pueden presentar los pacientes al ser llevados a estados inadecuados de fatiga, es necesario implementar métodos que permitan la regulación de esta. Diferentes métodos se han propuesto tales como: utilizar escalas subjetivas y monitorear parámetros fisiológicos. Uno de los más novedosos, consiste en evaluar el desempeño del ejercicio, ya que la fatiga se ve reflejada como un decremento de este. Teniendo en cuenta que para el autor, no se han explorado modelos para la estimación de fatiga en el ejercicio STS, este trabajo está enfocado en proponer un modelo computacional .

High intensity exercises have become a fundamental tool for physical rehabilitation processes, being the exercise of sitting and getting up from a chair (STS), one of the most important. However, due to the risks that patients can present when being taken to inadequate states of fatigue, it is necessary to implement methods that allow the regulation of this. Different methods have been proposed such as: using subjective scales and monitoring physiological parameters. One of the newest is to evaluate exercise performance, since fatigue is reflected as a decrease in it. Taking into account that for the author, models for estimating fatigue in STS exercise have not been explored, this work is focused on proposing a computational model.
