dc.description.abstractLA creciente demanda de una infraestructura vial con adecuada capacidad y funcionalidad, sumada a la imperiosa necesidad de conservar los recursos naturales, reducir el consumo de energía y la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), han puesto el concepto de sostenibilidad en el orden del día de la ingeniería de pavimentos. El empleo de pavimentos asfálticos recuperados, de subproductos industriales y de materiales reciclados, el desarrollo de mezclas asfálticas tibias, los pavimentos perpetuos, los pavimentos porosos y los pavimentos silenciosos, son algunos ejemplos de las prácticas asociadas con el desarrollo sostenible en la construcción, conservación y rehabilitación de estructuras de pavimento que se describen de manera somera en este artículo, indicando algunos de sus beneficios y limitaciones.spa
dc.description.abstractThe growing demand for road infrastructure with adequate capacity and functionality, in addition ti the need for preserving the natural resources, reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, has put the concept of sustainability on the agenda of pavement engineering. Some examples of practices associated with sustainable development in the construction, maintanace and rehabilitation of pavement structures include the use of reclaimed asphalt pavements, industrial by-products and recycled material, the development of Warm Mix Asphalt, perpetual pavement, porous pavements and quiet pavements. This article describes briefly these practices, highlighting some of their benefits and limitations.eng
