This document contains the results of an experimental program that was carried out at the Julio Garavito Colombian School of Engineering, in which the behavior of reinforced concrete beams affected by corrosion was evaluated, with the rehabilitation of degraded concrete, by means of the implementation of various load transfer systems between new concrete and existing concrete and reinforced externally with sheets of CFRP (Carbon Fiber polymer, for its acronym in English) in order to return the initial capacity to be the area of reinforcing steel reduced by the effects of corrosion. 10 specimens were built on a natural scale, with cross sections of 0.30mx0.38m x 3.60m in total length; the corrosion process was simulated by reducing the cross section of the longitudinal bars in tension by mechanical means. Of the total of the specimens, three were established as control beams to evaluate the efficiency of the repairs and in the rest seven different stress transfer systems were proposed between the existing concrete and the repair concrete, plus the addition of the external reinforcement CFRP. The results of the investigation showed that regardless of the repair system that was implemented, the efforts between the existing and the repair concrete were efficiently transferred and the efficiency of the external reinforcement was verified through the CFRP fabrics.
