Dime qué produces y te diré qué tan inequitativo eres: enfoque a la desigualdad colombiana.

Abstract

The present investigative work, deepens into one of the biggest social problem of the called underdeveloped countries, based on the assumption that the productive structure of the departments in Colombia affects the way as the income from economic activities are distributed in the population. To test this hypothesis qualitative and quantitative evidence are presented, using different statistical methods to demonstrate that the Colombian departments that depends on the sector of agriculture, livestock, hunting, forestry and fishing, or mining or quarrying, have an income distribution more unequal than the rest of the departments. This inequality was measure using the Theil index, the index of Atkinson and the Gini coefficient, these in turn were calculated using the GDP per capita information of the departments and the capital Bogotá D.C., from the year 2000 to 2014. The different inequality measures used, allowed to see from different variables how the inequality is greater in those agriculture and mining departments. Also, through the causality test, it can be affirmed that the productive structure influences inequality.

El presente trabajo investigativo profundiza uno de los grandes problemas sociales de los llamados países subdesarrollados, basándose en la suposición de que la estructura productiva de los departamentos en Colombia influye en la manera como los ingresos de las actividades económicas son distribuidos en la población. Para probar esta hipótesis se presentan evidencias cualitativas y cuantitativas, que por medio del uso de diferentes métodos estadísticos, permiten demostrar que los departamentos colombianos que dependen del sector de agricultura, ganadería, caza, silvicultura y pesca y/o del sector de explotación de minas y canteras, poseen una distribución de ingresos más desigual que el resto de los departamentos. Esta desigualdad fue medida usando el índice de Theil, el índice de Atkinson y el coeficiente de Gini, a su vez estos fueron calculados usando la información del PIB Per Cápita de los departamentos y la capital Bogotá D.C., desde el año 2000 al 2014. Las diferentes medidas de desigualdad usadas, permitieron comprobar desde diferentes variables como la desigualdad es mayor en departamentos agrícola-mineros. Así mismo, mediante el test de causalidad se puede afirmar que la estructura productiva influye en la desigualdad.
