La construcción con perfiles de acero formado en frío constituye hoy en día el renglón de más rápido crecimiento en el campo de las construcciones de acero. Su versatilidad, posibilidad de uso múltiple, resistencia, durabilidad y economía la hacen excepcionalmente apropiada como complemento en la construcción de edificios altos y por si sola como estructura en edificios de menor altura y en vivienda económica. En todos ellos se utiliza también cada vez más, como tablero colaborador, trabajando en acción compuesta con el concreto, en las losas de entrepiso. Aunque estos perfiles se pueden formar manualmente mediante prensas, sólo pueden competir económicamente cuando la fabricación se hace mediante trenes de rodillos.
Abstract (English)
Cold-formed steel section construction is today the fastest-growing area of steel construction. Its versatility, multiple uses, strength, durability and economy make it exceptionally suitable as a complement in the construction of high-rise buildings and on its own as a structure in lower-rise buildings and low-cost housing. In all of these, it is also increasingly used as a collaborating board, working in composite action with concrete, in mezzanine slabs. Although these profiles can be formed manually by presses, they can only compete economically when manufactured by roller trains.
