Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) is the essential innovation in concrete research of the recent decades. However, because of the high contents of cement and silica fume used, the cost and environmental impact of UHPC is considerably higher than conventional concrete. The use of industrial byproducts as supplementary cementitious materials, in the case of recycled glass powder and fluid catalytic cracking catalyst residue (FC3R), as partial substitution of cement and silica fume allows to create a more ecological and cost-efficient UHPC. This research presents a study to determine the possibility of partial substitution of cement by FC3R in a previously optimized mixture of ultra-high-performance concrete with recycled glass. The results demonstrate that compressive strength values of 150 and 151 MPa without any heat treatment can be achieved, respectively, when replacing 11% and 15% of the cement with FC3R, for a determined amount of water and superplasticizer, compared to 158 MPa obtained for the reference UHPC without any FC3R content. The rheology of fresh UHPC is highly decreased by replacing cement particles with FC3R.

The main objective of this research is to develop an optimized mixture of reactive powder concrete (RPC) containing supplementary cementitious materials (SCM), such as Electric Arc Slag Furnace (EASF), and Recycled Glass Powder (RGP) among others, through a factorial design. Accurate polynomial regressions were adjusted between considered factors and obtained responses such spread flow and compressive strength at different ages of the concrete. A multi-objective algorithm was executed to reach an eco-friendly mixture with the proper flow, the highest compressive strength, while simultaneously having the minimum content of cement. The experimental verification of this mathematical optimization demonstrated that the use of 621 kg/m3 of ASTM Type HE cement, with a maximum content of 100 kg/m3 of silica fume, should be considered the most appropriate amount to be employed in the RCP mixture to achieve a value of compressive strength over 150 MPa and a self-compacting mixture.

This paper presents the experimental results of research carried out involving the compressive strength and slump flow of ultra-highperformance concrete (UHPC) made with cementitious blends of recycled glass flour, recycled glass powder, micro limestone powder, silica fume, and portland cement. The adopted second-order polynomic regression model provided an accurate correlation between the considered variables and the obtained responses. A numerical optimization was then performed to obtain an eco-friendly mixture with the proper flow, highest compressive strength, and minimum content of cement. The use of 603 kg/m3 of cement in the mixture can be considered as the most appropriate amount to be employed in UHPC mixtures, fulfilling the limit values of compressive strength and spread flow.
