El reto: movilidad-sostenibilidad en Bogotá

Abstract

Teniendo en cuenta el acelerado crecimiento de lo que en pocos años será una mega-ciudad, resulta urgente abordar este desafío con medidas enmarcadas en un concepto de sostenibilidad. Esto implica que el conjunto de soluciones sea variado, integrado y flexible, y que se contemplen medidas amigables no sólo con el medio ambiente, sino con la población. Para esto, es necesario mantener la gama de opciones que los ciudadanos tienen para sus desplazamientos y se requiere que el propósito de desincentivar el uso del vehículo privado sea precedido por medidas para incentivar el uso del transporte público. Es así como garantizar la seguridad y la calidad del servicio de los sistemas de transporte masivo, optimizar la programación de sus rutas e incluso, establecer incentivos económicos para preferir al transporte público, deben ser seriamente considerados.

Considering the accelerated growth of what in a few years will be a mega-city, it is urgent to address this challenge with measures framed in a concept of sustainability. This implies that the set of solutions should be varied, integrated and flexible, and that measures that are friendly not only to the environment but also to the population should be contemplated. For this, it is necessary to maintain the range of options that citizens have for their travels and it is required that the purpose of discouraging the use of private vehicles is preceded by measures to encourage the use of public transport. Thus, guaranteeing the safety and quality of service of mass transportation systems, optimizing the scheduling of their routes and even establishing economic incentives to prefer public transportation should be seriously considered.
