Modelo para comparar diseños de filtro percolador

Abstract

El filtro percolador es un proceso para el tratamiento de aguas residuales, cuya función es poner en contacto el agua residual con microorganismos, los cuales se encuentran adheridos en un medio de soporte (lecho filtrante), que puede ser piedra, plástico, escoria o madera. El lecho filtrante más común es en piedra o plástico y la forma más común de diseño son filtros circulares, aunque en ocasiones se diseñan cuadrados o rectangulares. El presente trabajo consiste en crear un modelo en Excel para comparar diferentes metodologías de diseño de filtros percoladores para el tratamiento de aguas residuales (NRC, ECKENFELDER, GERMAIN, TEN STATE STANDARDS, VELZ, SCHULZE, GALLER-GOTAAS, BRUCE Y MERKENS). Basados en la información bibliográfica, se desarrolló el modelo para realizar la comparación de 5 de los 8 modelos propuestos: NRC, ECKENFELDER, GERMAIN, SCHULZE y BRUCE Y MERKENS. Para realizar el diseño comparativo de los filtros por los diferentes modelos se tiene como datos de entrada el caudal a tratar, la carga orgánica del efluente y del afluente, tipo de material filtrante, recirculación, área superficial especifica del medio, temperatura del agua y profundidad del filtro. El modelo presenta como resultados el área del filtro, volumen del filtro, carga hidráulica superficial, carga hidráulica volumétrica, carga orgánica superficial y carga orgánica volumétrica, para cada uno de los cinco (5) modelos.

The trickling filter is a process for the treatment of wastewater, whose function is to bring the wastewater into contact with microorganisms, which are attached to a support medium (filter bed), which can be stone, plastic, slag or wood. The most common filter bed is made of stone or plastic and the most common form of design is circular filters, although sometimes square or rectangular filters are designed. The present work consists of creating a model in Excel to compare different design methodologies for trickling filters for wastewater treatment (NRC, ECKENFELDER, GERMAIN, TEN STATE STANDARDS, VELZ, SCHULZE, GALLER-GOTAAS, BRUCE AND MERKENS). Based on the bibliographic information, the model was developed to perform the comparison of 5 of the 8 proposed models: NRC, ECKENFELDER, GERMAIN, SCHULZE and BRUCE AND MERKENS. The input data for the comparative design of the filters for the different models are the flow rate to be treated, the organic load of the effluent and influent, type of filter material, recirculation, specific surface area of the medium, water temperature and filter depth. The model presents as results the filter area, filter volume, surface hydraulic load, volumetric hydraulic load, surface organic load and volumetric organic load, for each of the five (5) models.
