| spa |
dc.description.abstract | The trickling filter is a process for the treatment of wastewater, whose function is to bring the wastewater into contact with microorganisms, which are attached to a support medium (filter bed), which can be stone, plastic, slag or wood. The most common filter bed is made of stone or plastic and the most common form of design is circular filters, although sometimes square or rectangular filters are designed. The present work consists of creating a model in Excel to compare different design methodologies for trickling filters for wastewater treatment (NRC, ECKENFELDER, GERMAIN, TEN STATE STANDARDS, VELZ, SCHULZE, GALLER-GOTAAS, BRUCE AND MERKENS). Based on the bibliographic information, the model was developed to perform the comparison of 5 of the 8 proposed models: NRC, ECKENFELDER, GERMAIN, SCHULZE and BRUCE AND MERKENS. The input data for the comparative design of the filters for the different models are the flow rate to be treated, the organic load of the effluent and influent, type of filter material, recirculation, specific surface area of the medium, water temperature and filter depth. The model presents as results the filter area, filter volume, surface hydraulic load, volumetric hydraulic load, surface organic load and volumetric organic load, for each of the five (5) models. | spa |
