Abstract: The alkali silica reaction is defined as a phenomenon produced by the alkali (sodium or potassium) of the cement, which react with the silica present in certain aggregates, they´re forming a gel, that under conditions of humidity generates micro cracks and internal stresses. This paper presents the results of a research project that evaluated the potential reactivity of three aggregates of the Colombian territory in combination with two cement types and two cement water ratios according with ASTM C 1260 mortar test bars. From the reactive samples, the alkali silica reaction was evaluated through the effective-ness of cementing materials. Finally, the mechanical behavior was analyzed as: the resistance to compression and flexion and elastic properties
